PURCELLVILLE, VA – On November 19, 2025, Senator Russet Perry addressed concerns regarding the ongoing situation within the Purcellville Town Council, following feedback from numerous residents who have expressed worries about alleged corruption among local officials.
In her statement, Senator Perry described the current situation as “unprecedented and unacceptable,” highlighting it as a “fundamental breakdown in ethical conduct, public duty, and responsible governance.” She noted the impact on public trust and community stability, emphasizing that “it is the residents—the families, businesses, and community members—who pay the price” when public officials fail to meet their obligations.
Senator Perry pointed to a “pattern of ongoing and continuous behavior” among some council members that suggests broader issues of governance. In response, she is working with colleagues in Richmond to draft legislation aimed at addressing perceived corruption and instability.
“My top priority is protecting and advocating for the people of Purcellville,” Perry stated, reiterating her commitment to ensuring that “state law provides real safeguards when local officials disregard their ethical and/or legal responsibilities.” She reassured the community of her determination to restore accountability, despite the typically slow legislative process.
Perry also expressed being “deeply disturbed over the erosion of public trust and the ongoing chaos that has taken hold in the town.” She encouraged residents to maintain open communication, as their feedback is vital in guiding her efforts.
Senator Perry represents Virginia’s 31st Senate District, which includes Purcellville and parts of Loudoun and Fauquier Counties, focusing on ethical governance and maintaining public trust.
