Purcellville, Va.— The Purcellville Police Department is once again hosting the Civilian Response and Casualty Care (CRCC) courses as part of the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services’ (DCJS) Active Attack Program. These free classes aim to prepare Virginia citizens and first responders to effectively respond to active attack scenarios.

The CRCC course, a comprehensive four-hour session, offers strategies for recognizing, responding to, and surviving active attacks. It includes vital training from the Stop the Bleed Campaign, teaching participants how to administer life-saving medical aid before professional help arrives. The curriculum covers various aspects, including the history of active attacks, civilian response options, and proper tourniquet application.

Scheduled for September 12th and 13th, the classes will be held at the Purcellville Town Hall, located at 221 S. Nursery Ave, Purcellville, Virginia. Sessions will be available on Friday, September 12th, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Saturday, September 13th, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Participants can choose one session to attend and must register by August 22nd. Each class is limited to 50 participants, with a minimum of 25 required to proceed.

Interim Chief Sara Lombraña emphasizes the importance of these classes, urging eligible community members to participate. “The information you learn can potentially save lives. While Purcellville is a safe community, no area is immune to violence. Empowering yourself with survival knowledge is crucial,” she stated.

The CRCC course is open to residents of Purcellville and Loudoun County, local businesses, community members, school employees, students aged 16 and older, faith-based communities, civic organizations, and local first responders.
