The Purcellville Town Council will hold a special meeting on November 19, 2025, to discuss a budget amendment tied to the Capital Improvement Plan, with a primary focus on replacing the deteriorated warning track at Fireman’s Field.

The warning track is a critical safety feature in baseball, designed to alert players—through a change in texture and footing—that they are nearing the outfield fence. This split-second awareness helps prevent collisions and injuries, making the track’s condition essential for safe play.

Fireman’s Field’s existing warning track, installed approximately 30 years ago, has become cracked, uneven, and prone to pooling water. These conditions have increased tripping hazards and reduced its effectiveness in alerting players, raising concerns for both safety and playability. The Town is considering replacing it with newer, more durable material better suited to drainage and long-term maintenance.

The proposed replacement is estimated to cost $189,000, a reduced amount from previous estimates. In addition, the Council will discuss future improvements, including replacing aging fencing along the base lines.

Residents are encouraged to follow the meeting via the Town’s official website for updates and project details.
