Purcellville, October 30, 2025 — Crews in Purcellville have successfully completed repairs on the major water main break affecting the town. Despite the completion of these repairs, the boil water advisory remains in effect until further testing confirms the water’s safety. Residents are urged to continue boiling tap water before use.

The award-winning Water Department team, affectionately known as “the Mud Dogs,” lived up to their name as they worked tirelessly through challenging conditions of mud and rain to complete the repairs.

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) collaborated with local teams to conduct thorough bacteria testing. The VDH laboratory extended its operations into the evening to accommodate the testing schedule, and a second round of samples will be collected this afternoon to verify the water’s safety.

Pending the results of these tests, the boil water advisory, which advises residents to boil tap water before use, is expected to be lifted by Friday. This advisory serves as a preventative measure to ensure public health during the repair process.

Special thanks to the Water Department and the Public Works team for their tireless work through the night to resolve the issue efficiently and effectively. Further updates will be provided as they become available, with a focus on returning to normal service promptly and safely.
