PURCELLVILLE, Va., July 15, 2026 – For Purcellville Police Chief Sara Lombraña, the department’s newest honor is less about a plaque on the wall and more about the people standing beside her.
“True leadership is about building something that extends beyond ourselves. It means investing in the people we lead, empowering them to grow, and preparing them to one day become our successors,” Lombraña told Purcellville News. “I have complete confidence in every member of our staff, and I am incredibly proud of their dedication, professionalism, and the difference they make in serving our community each day.”
Her comments came as the Purcellville Police Department announced it has received the FBI-LEEDA Agency Trilogy Award, a distinction reserved for public safety agencies whose entire command staff has completed an advanced three-part leadership training series.

Full Command Staff Completes the Series
Lombraña completed the Trilogy program in 2022. Lt. Mike Holman and Lt. David Camp both completed the series this year, bringing the department’s full command staff to Trilogy completion and qualifying the agency for the award.
In announcing the recognition, the department said the accomplishment reflects its commitment to continued learning, leadership excellence and serving the community with professionalism and integrity, adding that it is proud to have leaders who continually invest in improving themselves and the service they provide.

About the Trilogy Program
The award is presented by the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, known as FBI-LEEDA. The individual Trilogy Award recognizes law enforcement professionals who complete three advanced leadership courses: the Supervisor Leadership Institute, the Command Leadership Institute and the Executive Leadership Institute. The program emphasizes leadership development, communication, organizational effectiveness and professional growth within law enforcement.
The Agency Trilogy Award extends that recognition to entire departments, marking a milestone achieved when every member of an agency’s command staff has finished the series.
Lombraña was confirmed as Purcellville’s permanent police chief earlier this year after serving in an acting capacity.
