The Purcellville Town Council approved the construction of a new warning track at Fireman’s Field Park during their meeting on March 10, 2026. This development follows a resolution to accept a donation from E.E. Reed Construction-East Coast, which will provide the necessary services and materials for the project.

Fireman’s Field, located at 250 South Nursery Avenue, serves as an important venue for local sports, particularly baseball, through the efforts of Cannons Baseball, Incorporated, a non-profit organization based in Virginia. The new warning track will replace the existing asphalt version, enhancing safety for players during games.

The project has received approval from the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, which oversees conservation efforts on the property. The council noted that the enhancement is in line with the town’s commitment to supporting recreational activities and the well-being of its residents.

“This donation is an incredible act of generosity by E.E. Reed construction. The donation of this new warning track will ensure player safety and support games at Fireman’s Field this year and for many years to come. I offer my most sincere thanks to E.E. Reed, the Purcellville Cannons, and town staff for working so hard to facilitate this generous donation,” stated council member Caleb Stought.

Construction is expected to begin shortly, with a goal for completion by April 8, 2026, just ahead of the baseball season. E.E. Reed Construction will cover all costs associated with the project, ensuring no financial burden is placed on the town.

The agreement allows for municipal oversight of the construction process, ensuring that all necessary safety and regulatory standards are met.
