Purcellville, VA — The office of Interim Town Manager Anthony Sabio announced that the Town of Purcellville will hold its annual Independence Day Parade on Saturday, June 27, 2026, rather than during the traditional July 4 weekend.

According to a news release from Sabio’s office, the schedule change is tied to the nationwide America 250, which marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence. The milestone is expected to bring a significant number of large-scale celebrations to Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. during the July 4 holiday.

According to the office of the Interim Town Manager, many of the traffic management and logistical resources that typically support Purcellville’s parade will be committed to those regional events taking place on and around July 4.

Because of those resource demands, the Town has moved the parade to the preceding weekend in order to ensure the event can continue to operate safely while maintaining the organization and community participation residents expect from the long-standing tradition.

The release also noted that holding the parade earlier allows Purcellville to participate in and help kick off the broader America 250 celebrations planned across the region.

Other Loudoun Independence Day Events

Several surrounding Loudoun County communities are expected to continue holding their traditional celebrations around the July 4 holiday.

In Leesburg, the Town’s annual Independence Day celebration typically begins with a morning parade through historic downtown starting at Ida Lee Park, followed by an evening concert and fireworks display at the park. Fireworks are usually launched around 9:30 p.m. as part of the town’s day-long celebration.

In Lovettsville, the community traditionally hosts a July 3 Independence Day celebration that includes a parade, family activities, food vendors, and fireworks at Lovettsville Community Park later in the evening.

Purcellville News has also reached out to officials at Franklin Park to confirm whether their annual July 4 fireworks celebration will take place on July 4th, 2026. As of the time of publication, confirmation of that event had not yet been received.

Participation Information

Additional details about participating in the Purcellville parade, including registration information, will be available through the Town’s Purcellville Parks and Recreation website and social media pages.
