PURCELLVILLE, Va. (March 27, 2026) – Construction activity related to the planned interchange at Route 7 and Route 690 (Hillsboro Road) is expected to begin the week of March 30, according to an update from Loudoun County.

Initial work will take place during daylight hours near the existing overpass and will include preparing the site for construction. Activities are expected to involve staking construction limits, installing traffic signage, implementing erosion and sediment control measures, and staging equipment.

The county issued a Notice to Proceed for the project on March 25, formally marking the start of construction.

As work begins, residents and motorists in the area may notice an increase in contractor presence, construction vehicles, and equipment moving in and out of the site. Periodic noise associated with grading and roadway work is also anticipated as construction progresses.

County officials note that contractors are required to comply with all applicable county and town regulations related to noise and safety.

The interchange project is expected to continue through multiple phases, with substantial completion currently projected for winter 2029.

No additional details regarding traffic impacts or detours were included in the initial construction notice.
