PURCELLVILLE, Va. – A major expansion of the Purcellville Fire and Rescue Station on North Maple Avenue is beginning to take shape, with the $11.7 million project now funded in Loudoun County’s Fiscal Year 2027 adopted budget and moving into the design and review stage.
The project, listed in the county budget as the Fire and Rescue Station #02/#14 Purcellville Addition, calls for a 6,200-square-foot addition and an 8,800-square-foot renovation of the existing station. The expansion is intended to accommodate the career and volunteer Loudoun County Fire and Rescue personnel assigned to the station, which is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Planned improvements include additional locker and restroom facilities, a dedicated female shower and locker facility, additional bunkrooms, a watch room and expanded interior storage, along with a 960-square-foot exterior storage building to replace the temporary storage units currently on the property.
Voters approved funding for the project in a November 2025 bond referendum. Of the $11.7 million total cost, $10.2 million will come from general obligation bonds, with the remainder covered by local tax funding. The county’s timeline shows design work in Fiscal Year 2027, construction spanning Fiscal Years 2027 and 2028, and an estimated completion date of Fiscal Year 2028.
